Who Am I?

My name is Joe Rusling and I am a Sports Journalist based in Madrid. I have been living in the Spanish capital for just over a year and currently studying a Master’s course in Sports Journalism and Coummunications at Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid Universidad Europea. Whilst in Spain I have been keen to improve my language skills and a big goal of mine is to achieve the highest possible level of Spanish that I can attain.

My main passion in life is of course football. I am an AFC Bournemouth fan, for my sins, following the team home and away during the remarkable ascent from -17 points in the relegation zone of League 2, to becoming an established Premier League side. Alongside this, I have a great fascination of non-league football. Being a season ticket holder at my local Poole Town FC, and also following the Dolphins on the road, has given me a profound love for the game at all levels and an understanding of the importance of football to communities around the UK.

Away from football, I have an interest in many other sports, cricket, golf and basketball to name a few. I played cricket all throughout my youth and keep a close eye on how England are faring despite being in Spain.

What to expect from the blog

Thanks to the incredible access offered to us by Real Madrid Universidad Europea, I will be paying particular attention to Los Blancos’ defence of LaLiga and the Champions League. Furthermore, despite being relatively new to the sport, I have been intrigued by the Real Madrid Basketball team from the opportunities I have had to see them in the past couple of months.

Also, due to my love of English football, plenty can be expected in that department. As well as whatever tickles my interest in the world of sport, whether it be tackling controversial issues, or looking at heartwarming journeys to success, there are no boundaries to my fascinations.
